The Process
Once the team was assigned, I collected the necessary information from the Project Manager and the Sales Representative who have spoken to the client directly.
Once I had the clients information about their site (inspiration sites, color choices, imagery, font style), then I selected a homepage template to utilize for this site. Communicating with the Content Marketer about the content on the homepage, I began implementing the copy into the template. Once the homepage template was complete, I sent the finished homepage design, and all of the information to the third party vendors, to build out the internal pages according to the homepage design. Our sites are designed using a customized WordPress platform and the DIVI design WordPress plugin from Elegant Themes.
After the vendors completed the internal pages, we completed the team review, and sent the site through Quality Assurance (QA), we scheduled the call with the client to review the site. On this call the client reviewed their site for the first time, and gave feedback.
We then completed the edits to the site, and sent the site through QA again. Upon completing the edits necessary for full funtionality from QA, we sent the site to the tech services team to send the site live.
The Design
For this client they specified that they liked the Pink that was in their logo/wordmark. I selected a nice gray to go with the pink to give it a soft feel. The client stated that she wanted imagery of the beach, the tranquility of the ocean, to portray the calming feeling that working with her gave to her clients.
The template I chose has the practice areas in a row below the banner image with icons above the copy. I took the content writers copy and implemented a Pink hover state, changing the text color to white for ADA compliance contrast.
Client Feedback
Once the site was completed we had the call with the client. The client liked the overall site and had minor changes to various sections of the site (i.e. spacing issues in the header and footer).
They also requested that we implement an about the attorney section and the make a payment button to the site. I decided to add the attorney profile section between two blocks of copy to break up the long reading, and placed the payment button in the header so that it would be at the top of the site on every page.
